Here’s a FUN at home craft for kids that will occupy their time for a bit! Learn how to make scented dinosaur stickers with our simple tutorial below!
These aren’t “real” stickers (unless you happen to have access to sticker paper!) but they are “stickers” that you can do RIGHT NOW in your house regardless of what craft supplies you have on hand. As long as you have a printer and some glue you’re all set!
Materials Needed:
-
printable dinosaur sheet (see file below)
-
Mod Podge or school glue
-
paint brush
-
scissors
-
folder or object you want “stickers” on
-
optional -scented soap or essential oil
How to Make Your Own Stickers:
Begin by cutting our any printed design that you want. I created these printable dinosaur designs that you can use: Dinosaur Stickers PDF
I highly recommend laying out your design in the areas that you want them to go before you start with the glue! That way you can move things around before they are put in place with glue.
Then dab a bit of glue or mod podge onto the back end and press dinosaur “sticker” firmly into place on any object that you want! I used a folder for my kids to take to school with them! You can use most any hard smooth surface.
Next, paint your mod podge over the top of your dinosaur “sticker”. Don’t worry about globs of glue like you see above – it will dry clear! If you want add a dab of scented soap or essential oil onto the dinosaur.
NOTE – if you’re using regular printer paper essential oils will probably dye your paper and make the colors bleed a bit. You can try to pre-mix an amount of glue with a drop of oil if you want but scented soap works best.
Do this for each “sticker” that you want to use! You can do this with any printed image or clip art you have found online! Be careful to glue well around the edges so your new “sticker” doesn’t peel up!
Apply all of your designs and then let dry. Once dry your artwork is complete! Look at how fun our dinosaur folder turned out!
This is a cheap artistic way to make your own “stickers” without actually needing to buy sticker paper! You won’t be able to peel the stickers up like regular stickers but it will give you the same look!
Of course using sticker paper is fun too but requires a lot more adult help if your kids don’t know how to pull images offline and print them on the paper. This is especially helpful if you need a QUICK craft idea at home when you’re stuck indoors but don’t have a lot of supplies on hand.
You can use this same idea to design party favors for dinosaur birthday parties!
