Tersano Lotus Home Cleaning System Review

This post may contain affiliate links, view our disclosure policy for details.

Tersano, Inc., a Canadian developer of household sanitizing systems makes the Lotus Home Cleaning System. I had the opportunity to review this sanitizing system and Tersano has generously offered to give one to my readers! I took a long time to write this review because I wanted to do my research. This system is not an inexpensive one, but in the long run is cost effective and the healthiest option available. Being a mother of two boys at home, watching another child in my home, sending one kid to school, and having a husband who is a teacher – I think our house comes across more germs than many households do! And with boys you can certainly throw a lot of dirt and grime in the mix too! In fact as I’m writing this our whole family is getting over being sick – germs are everywhere!

And not just germs, but the junk that grows in the corner of your house when you’re so busy you don’t have time to clean. The bacteria that lives in your kids (or husband’s!) smelly shoes. The pesticides that you bring home by the bagfuls on your fresh fruits and vegetables. So I was very interested in what the Lotus Home Cleaning System had to offer – and to decide whether or not the price was worth it. The Lotus Home Cleaning system comes with everything you see above (a filter cartridge, spray bottle, multipurpose bowl, vegetable retainer, 2 microfiber cloths and the machine base) retails for about $225-$250 depending on where you buy it.
So what exactly does the Lotus Cleaning System do? Very simply put it adds an extra oxygen molecule into the water (simple tap water from your faucet) turning the water temporarily into ozone (O3) until the molecules break back down into oxygen (about 15 minutes). Ozone, as you can find out just by googling and doing some quick research, is one of the most powerful cleaning forces in the world. And it’s natural – no chemicals. Ozone is 52% STRONGER than BLEACH – and MORE effective over a wider spectrum of microorganisms. That fact alone is truly astronomical – a seemingly plain bottle of water, with an extra oxygen added in – is stronger (not to mention healthier) and more effective than using straight bleach! That fact alone made me look twice.

In the back of the machine is where you insert the cartridge. It was very simple – just pop it in and you’re ready to go. It has a clear window so that you can see if you need to replace it or not.

The first feature we decided to try out was the produce bowl. Believe it or not you can use this product bowl not only for produce but also for meats and seafood as well. Simply fill the bowl with the fruit/veggies you want to clean, fill water up to the fill line, then place the lid with vegetable retainer on top to hold the produce under the water. Select the proper attachment on the digital screen and then it starts! It only takes a few minutes to run and is not very loud.

The digital screen will tell you how far along you are (percentage-wise) in the process of sanitizing. It will beep, and then count 2 minutes. Once the 2 minutes is completed you can take your newly sanitized produce out of the bowl! This makes me feel much better about the produce we eat and feed the kids. We try to buy organic when possible, but cost wise this is not always an option. The Lotus system will kill 99.9% of the bacteria and harmful microbes found on your produce.
We were quite surprised! With only 2 apples and 4 mushrooms our water after we removed our produced was rather gross. It’s near impossible to get a picture of it but there was chunky wax like stuff (probably from the apples) and other floating materials in the water.
Not convinced? I wasn’t sure either – I mean – how can you actually SEE the stuff you’re getting off of your food? Well you can’t, but there ARE visible ways (in addition to the research done) that proves the effectiveness of the ozone water. Not only is the sanitization of ozone powerful for cleaning bacteria off of food, it also cleans harmful microorganisms off of surfaces such as kitchen countertops, doorknobs, toilets, bathroom sinks, handles, light switches, classroom desks, and just about anywhere else you can spray! For these surfaces I used the spray bottle. Just fill it with cold water, place it on the base, select the attachment on the machine, and let it charge. It charges very quickly, and the water can be used for 15 minutes of cleaning. Usually I can use all of the water easily within 15 minutes so the time frame did not hamper my cleaning efforts at all. I have been using our Lotus system like crazy this week with all of the sickness in my house. No more chemical wipes and sprays to try and get rid of the sick germs in my house – I just use the charged ozone water from my Lotus system – it is stronger than both bleach and hydrogen peroxide – it doesn’t get better than that!
Not only is the Lotus system good for killing germs and bacteria (which is enough for me!) but it is also a powerful cleaning tool. It works instantly unlike many cleaners that work best when they sit on a surface for a while. This ozone water works over 3,000 times faster than bleach! It works instantly! My mom was just telling me yesterday how she hates using a name brand chemical cleaner in her bathtub because it always makes her cough so bad….I thought of the Lotus Home Cleaning System and it’s non-toxic effects on our family.
**WARNING** – the photo below is pretty gross.
Yes, it is my dining room chair. And yes, it used to be white – a HUGE bad choice we made when we bought our expensive dining room set before kids! I cannot tell you how many times I have actually steam cleaned these chairs, and I can NOT get the stains out. It is so frustrating and I have actually been considering bleaching them because as you can see the stains are HIDEOUS. It’s very embarrasing as I’m sure you notice. We try to put little towels over them when company comes, but it’s just sad. I really wanted to put the Lotus’ cleaning ability to the test – and these chairs have been my nemesis since I had kids. (don’t EVER buy white chairs!) I have steam cleaned them with every cleaner imaginable and they won’t get much cleaner. So I charged up my spray bottle of water with my Lotus Home Cleaning System and decided to clean only the left half of the chair so I could see if there really was a difference using the ozone water to clean.
HOLY MOLY! I’m not even kidding – look at that HUGE difference. Just from a bottle of “water”! Now it is certainly not 100% clean but the difference with and without the Lotus ozone water is amazing. I just sprayed the chair with the water, and used the microfiber cloths that were included in the kit to wipe the chair down. I was totally floored. I mean, I had spent HOURS and HOURS steam cleaning these stupid chairs and all I had to do was spray some ozone water on it and wipe it off – wow! It’s like a commercial that you don’t really believe because it looks too easy – but that’s all I did! In fact I still look at it and can’t believe how simple it was. I am currently working on a second round with the Lotus water to see if I can clean it further but I am completely shocked at the drastic difference that it made. These are some serious kid-made stains that have been there compounding for 4 years! I used to scrub and scrub to try and remove these stains!
SO now you see why I was interested in this system! And not only for the healthiness and cleaning powers of my produce and dirty surfaces at home, but for use in your classroom! Imagine at the end of the you can spend 2-3 minutes charging a bottle of ozone water in your Lotus system and spraying down all of the classroom desks, surfaces, and doorknobs in your classroom. NO chemicals. NO odors. NO toxins in your room. NO germs! Can you imagine how much healthier your class would be?
You can also sanitize baby bottles (no more boiling!), kids toys, sports gear, spray smelly shoes, toothbrushes, sponges, retainers, dentures, pet beds, leashes, countertops, refridgerators, and anything else you might possibly need cleaned. I have always heard of the amazing and proven benefits of using ozone water but Tersano has brought it to a new level by affordably offering it in your home. I have seen other water treatment kits that turn your tap water into ozone water for thousands of dollars so $250 is a great price to pay for this. Considering that you would really never have to buy cleaners again this is a very reasonable price, howbeit an initial investment. If I have a little extra water leftover in my spray bottle before my 15 minutes is up to use it I certainly don’t want to waste it – I just walk around the house spraying my floors, handles, doorknobs and lightswitches!
Don’t just take my word for it – do your research! Browse online for more Tersano Lotus Home Cleaning Reviews, check Amazon, the reviews are good and mirror my own experience. I am highly impressed. Although we did just buy Simple Green cleaner we mainly grab our Lotus system now when sanitizer our house and our produce. Before any fresh fruit or veggies go in the fridge it goes through our Lotus system first. Kids toothbrushes and non-electric toys make a trip through our Lotus – especially after we’ve been sick. My husband is planning on transporting our system to his school on occasion to sanitize his classroom. If you are looking for a healthier option sanitizing system for your home I highly recommend researching Tersano Inc. and what they have to offer. This is especially a necessary product for those who have autistic children in their homes who are sensitive to even the “all natural” cleaners!
Tersano has put out a 3 part video series for you to understand more about their product which is much more in depth than I can provide. If you are interested in learning more I highly suggest watching their Lotus Sanitizing System Infomercial Videos. It will show you how to use the machine, different ways you can use it in your home, and why it works.
On their website you can also see clips from the Lotus system being featured on the HGTV network, Rachael Ray show, and multiple news stations as well! I just spent half an hour watching several of them and it was well worth it.

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this review. I did receive a cleaning system to try in order to form my own opinions. All opinions are 100% my own.

  1. This was an interesting product. I would love the wetmop. Our house has one carpeted room. The rest are vinyl tile or wood flooring and they never look or feel clean!

I thought it was very interesting that "processing" fruits and vegetables extends their shelf life. Safer to eat and potentially less waste.

  3. I like the multi-purpose vessel so I can sanitize the kids' toothbrushes. Especially if one or more are sick. I could see using this to sanitize a lot of small items around the house!

  13. There are so many reasons why I want to win, but I would have to say number 1 is that I have a special needs child in my classroom this year who has a condition that renders his immune system completely ineffective. Not only that, but he is sensitive to chemicals found in common household cleansers. I would love to have this to use in my classroom and to possibly even give to his family!

I think this would be a great product to have! I really think I would purchase the wetmop to go along with it. We have dogs and a toddler so I am constantly mopping my floor but it never seems clean enough! I would definitely bring it to my classroom and give it a good once over at least once a week. I always seem to bring home icky illnesses to my husband and toddler 🙁

  24. I want to win this because I can see it being a huge help at home and in the classroom. I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old (both boys) and another baby on the way. I can see this being a huge help in getting things clean. I also could really use it in my classroom. I teach special education and often have students who put things in their mouths. This would give me an easy and safe way to disinfect the items.

I'd like to be able to easily sanitize to keep all the germs coming home for thier schools and my husband's school from making us sick all the time. I think I'm most excited about being able to easily sanitize our kitchen surfaces without using disposable products, which don't "sit well" with my husband who teaches Environmental Science.

I liked Lotus and your fb page!
I would love this not only for my classroom, but to use at home as well. I have 4 pets and as you know pets can have accidents. I have non-sealed wood floors and getting them to feel clean is not an easy task. One of my 2 cats has allergies to one of many cleaners, so I have to be careful what I use. This would take the guessing out of the equation. Also, my new husband has diabetes so this product would help us keep food and the house cleaner for him since he's more apt to get sick from germs brought into the house.

At school, it would keep my students healthy along w/ my own child who attends the same school as I teach. It would also cut out on the amount of dust/dirt that my dusting leaves behind.

To have one of these would be a God send.

  324. I would like to win because I have a special needs child and we need to keep everything thoroughly cleaned in our house. Great product!

  325. I learned that it's got a USDA Approved Process Statement

I love anything that will help sanitize our living environment. I would love to use this cleaning device on our furniture and the kids' car seats, which I'm sure are disgusting!
