Behold – my NEW favorite letters game for kids!! Scrabble’s Alphabet Scoop! It is geared for ages 6+ (but any child that can recognize letters and match them can play!) and is a fun crazy twist on the traditional Scrabble game. I love it because children do not have to be a good speller in order to play this game! I even saw it in my Target this weekend!
It comes with the pot you see above, a lid for the pot, letter tiles, fly tiles, ladle scoopers, and flashcards! As you see below the object of the game is to find the letter tiles to match the words on your flashcard! There is plenty of room for you to lay your letter tiles directly on to the letters on the flashcard.
The Rules? Everyone gets one card, and then chooses which word on the card they want to try and spell. Then everyone at the same time takes their copper and spoons out tiles. You quickly have to check your letter tiles with the letters you need in your word, place any corresponding letters on your card, then deposit the unused letters back into the pot. But be careful! If you get a fly you have to put ALL of your letters back – even the ones that are already on your card!! The first person to spell the word on their card with the letter tiles wins!
This was a great game for my oldest son as he is learning how to spell and could use a little extra work on matching letters from the tiles to the letters on the flashcard. And little brother was just there for the fun! 🙂
This is certainly one of the best Scrabble games I have seen out there. It’s fun for adults and kids, and all ages can play together. The only thing that I do not like about this set is that the lid does not attach to the pot for storage – it just sits on top. I can see a lot of accidents waiting to happen with tiles flying everywhere!! Overall though I LOVE this game!! It is such a simple idea yet loads of fun. Very educational of course and great for strengthening coordination and letter recognition for younger kids. The first time our family played my husband had almost won when he scooped up a fly! I was laughing but he wasn’t quite so thrilled! 🙂 The kids ended up winning!!
One of my readers will win their own Scrabble Alphabet Scoop!!

I've always loved Scrabble, but I'd love to try this version with the kids – I think they'd be more into it, since it moves faster and they're still young (5 and 7)
