Cooking Channel star Bobby Deen will be coming to the Iowa State Fair this year for the first time ever as part of Kenmore’s 100th Anniversary to invite Iowa cooks to enter the brand new, “Kenmore Honored Harvest Time Recipes” competition.

The first place blue ribbon winner will win:

  • ·         A Kenmore kitchen makeover worth $5,000 (WOW!)
  • ·         A three day/two night trip package for two people to the premier food event in the country, the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival in October
  • ·         The chance to have his/her recipe featured in the Kenmore 100th Anniversary cookbook due out this fall (total 1st place price value of $8,400)

More info on the competition is here (page 46). In honor of celebrating home-cooks and home-cooking as part of Kenmore’s 100th Anniversary, we’re looking for heritage recipes and stories that inspired the recipe. A panel of judges will select the finalist based on overall taste, presentation, heritage story and uniqueness. The entry deadline is July 1. Entrants and fairgoers will have the chance to meet Bobby.

Finally, Kenmore is also hosting a summer-long online recipe contest on cookmore.com. The cookmore.com recipe contest is not specific to grilling – it can be any recipe and we are still looking for some great dishes with great stories/history behind them. The contest will run through Aug. 1 and the winner will win the same prizes as above.
