Rhyming Truffula Trees – Dr. Seuss Activity

Nothing says Dr. Seuss better than rhyming and here’s a cute rhyming activity you can do with your kids/students to celebrate The Lorax and Dr. Seuss!
Have your kids draw tree trunks for the truffula trees and make a ladder down coloring every other section black and the other sections yellow. Then have them draw and color the top “tuft” of the truffula tree. In this tuft of their truffula tree is where they will write the word that they will be using to rhyme with. (or suffix they will be writing words with)
So for example, in the top of the tuft you may write the word
BED
Â
Then in the truffula trunk you may write the words:
Â
HEAD
SAID
FLED
FED
LED
WED
Â
If you love truffula trees as much as I do you will LOVE the life-sized truffula tree decor tutorial!

I really like this idea. I think my kids would really like it. It is a creative way to get them to rhyme! If you are interested, I would love to have you share a link to this post on my blog, Happy Birthday Author, to help us celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday.
Here is the link to the linky:

I made my own Trees same tops but easy peasy bottoms …..http://gonnasetthiscircusdown.blogspot.com/2012/02/dr-seuss-is-on-loose.html
Will have to use this idea next year
I love this idea! My kids will love this, too. Thanks for sharing.
