Having some FUN at our Step2 Backyard Play Date Party

Thanks to Step2 we received this beautiful Naturally Playful Adventure Lodge Play Center with Glider to set up and throw a fun backyard play date party!! We have actually had several sets of kids over since my husband put it together – all of whom have loved it! I had never seen a plastic swing set before believe it or not so I was really surprised at how sturdy this set is! Although it is built for kids my husband tested it out to see how sturdy it was and there was no sagging at all in the support system.

The only part of the frame that is not plastic is the metal support rod at the top. Another important and surprising feature is that this swing set anchors into the ground! It definitely made a huge difference in the stability – it’s practically unmovable now! Another pretty awesome thing we noticed was that there are handles to grasp on the way up the ladder as well as by the slide – and I did see the kids using them a lot! It helped the little ones stabilize themselves better as they were getting up and down and I really appreciated that extra safety feature!

Having a swing set in your backyard may be a big investment but if you have kids at home it’s a very good investment! My children want to go outside all the time just for the simple fact that we have a swing set back there! It definitely promotes their desire to be outside and gets them actively playing and running around. No electronics, no sitting around – just the big wide outdoors! I remember as a kid spending ALL my free time outdoors on our little tiny swing set – we built a lot of memories out there.

Check out our video below to see the fun and see some more up close features!

As you can see in the video not only did the kids have a blast and stay active the whole time but we also had a table full of healthier snacks for them to eat while they were playing. Fresh fruit, all natural fruit snacks, 100% juice, tortilla chips and salsa, etc. Kids that play hard especially need extra fuel to keep them going!

My favorite features about this Step2 swing set:

*Rope Ladder
*Climbing Wall
*2 Story Clubhouse
*Extra Handles

and of course:
*Slide, Swings, Glider, Wheel, and Basketball Hoop!

As you can see this is a nice roomy play set which easily allows a good number of children to play inside and out of the clubhouse as well as multiple children on swings at the same time too! The clubhouse has numerous entrances which is nice! Inside the top level of the fort is a steering wheel which rotates – this has really boosted imaginative play so far! The kids have turned their swing set into a pirate ship, into a school bus, a boat, and even a time machine!

As for actually putting it together my husband said that it wasn’t hard but the directions were a little confusing. He is pretty good at putting things together and building things and it took him about 6 hours. Someone who wasn’t quite as adept at building things may be looking at double that time frame – all dependent of course on who is putting it together. It of course came with step by step directions with diagrams as well.

I have seen this set listed between $899-$999 and compared to other plastic play sets that I have researched this is a very reasonable price – especially considering you get so many great features. In fact compared to any type of play set that is really a great deal. I love the extra sturdy durable plastic better for our family because in my opinion it is easier to tear down and transport without damaging if you are moving houses. I have talked to several parents who spent well over $600 on wood sets that deteriorated within a few years. We have a play house in our backyard that is built with similar material and we’ve had it for 5 years back there and when we got it was very old – it’s condition is perfect!

This play set will get a LOT of love and use out of it. Almost every day I am catching my kids sneaking out the back door to run and swing on their play set or play “puppies” in the clubhouse!

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post. I did receive a swing set  and snack reimbursement in order to host a party. All opinions are 100% my own.
