Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life

Last week I had the opportunity to watch Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life which is an absolutely fantastic CLEAN and great movie for kids (and adults!). This PG-rated DVD comes out on March 6, 2012 and is based on the children’s novel Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life by Wendy Mass.
Twelve year old Jeremy Fink mysteriously receives a wooden box with the words “The Meaning of Life – for Jeremy Fink to open on his 13th birthday” inscribed on the top. This mystery box has four locks on it, but no keys. In order to find out what is in this mysterious wooden box Jeremy and his best friend Lizzy begin on an intriguing hunt throughout Manhattan to try and find the keys to unlock the box. This trailer really drew me to the movie. It looked like a great pre-teenish aged movie. My husband, being an elementary teacher, is especially interested in juvenile books and films and I knew he would love it – and he did! It definitely seems to capture a pre-teen’s point of view.
There was definitely an element of sadness in the movie as Jeremy’s father was lost to a tragic accident and he is understandably affected by it but I love how it also revolves around true friendship and adventure. It was a very creative, “feel good” movie that really inspired the desire of enjoying life every day. I definitely recommend it for kids of all ages. It was a good wholesome movie that really kept you wondering what was going to happen next!
