Jumpstart Online Virtual Membership Review

I love working with Knowledge Adventure and their JumpStart educational products for kids. JumpStart’s virtual online membership is a magical place for kids to explore and gain access to new pets, rides, and more by playing educational games. Some of the games we played were matching letters, memory games, math games, matching “like” words, matching “opposite” words, and much more! All you need to do is sign in & play!
Geared for children ages 3-12, Jumpstart’s Online Virtual Membership is really quite fun. My son is 3 years old, and is quite familiar with the Jumpstart characters – he begs to play his Jumpstart game! In fact I got so tired of him coming into my room at 6:30 in the morning that we had to start the new rule “You can’t play the computer till your room is clean.”- effectively giving me a half hour break before he would resurface for the computer! 🙂
One thing that I love about the Jumpstart Virtual world is that it is completely safe for my son to play in. The children never use their real names, there is no live chat- everything is pre-programmed names & canned chat to “make friends” in the virtual world. I never have to worry about who might be trying to write my son on his game- it is a non-issue.
The Jumpstart virtual world is something you certainly cannot get bored of quickly! It is HUGE! There are so many nooks & crannies to find, and sad to say I have had to call their support number MORE than a few times because we “lost a pet” or “can’t find my son’s ride”! I’m sure the poor guy on the other line must have had a good laugh when I got off the phone! The support is absolutely amazing! I’ve had the support team actually spend a half hour on the phone with me walking me through each and every section of the virtual world as well!
Different sections of the virtual world are geared for different age groups, so if you have a very young child playing like mine- they may not understand which areas are on their level. Every once in a while I would have to try to figure out how to get out of an older level game and redirect my son to a more appropriate level.
Playing the different educational games will earn you “money”, which you can in turn buy special things for your character. My son specifically loved buying pets and rides. There are floating boats, skateboards, monster heads and a TON more to ride in. And the pets galore- ghosts, cats, seals, and anything else you can think of. Knowing that he could buy special pets & rides really encouraged my son to play even more games to earn more money.
Here are just a few of the locations you will find in the Jumpstart Virtual World:
Story Land
Future Land
Uncle Milton’s Amazing Science Land
Jumpstart Stadium
Marine Land
Poseidon’s Hangout
Overall we (especially my son!) really enjoyed Jumpstart’s virtual world! It gave him a safe place to explore while encouraging him to play educational games too!
