Teachable Touchables Texture Squares Review

As you know I love Educational Insights products and they have a great variety when it comes to bean bags! They have the Teachable Touchables Texture Squares you see above, as well as Phonics, Numbers, Alphabet, Shapes, and Colors. The Teachable Touchables includes 10 different textures (2 of each are included – 20 total).

They come in this ultra cute brightly colored drawstring bag which has several textured swatches sewn on the front of the bag. An activity guide is also included.

My oldest son has a sensory disorder, so I knew he would go crazy over these texture squares! This is a great way to not only add sensory input into your child’s day, but it also helps your child to differentiate between difference surfaces, as well as using descriptive words to talk about what each square feels like.

As you can see there is quite a variety! From squares with holes in it, scratchy squares, bumpy, shiny, soft, silky, fuzzy, furry, rough – and any other adjectives you can come up with! The squares are nice small sizes for little hands to easily pick up and hold on to.

Looks like fun huh? I loved these black furry ones! They were my favorite! We played all sorts of fun games with these texture squares. My kids had to find matching pairs in a pile. We played “I Spy” using descriptive words and they had to find the corresponding bean bags.
We had to toss certain colored bean bags into different locations which helped work on gross motor skills. We even played hide and seek with the bean bags! The kids had a blast searching for them in the house!
Did you see the picture above with the reflective squares? You can actually see my son’s face in it which brought on a whole new lesson about reflections and mirrors! I liked that all of the bags were different colors too.
These bean bags are great for children of all ages! My two year old loved them as much as I did! You can use these bean bags in every day play as well. They are good quality and seemingly near impossible to destroy!
