Throughout history people have always looked for ways to keep special messages secret and hidden from public eye. One way that you can make your own secret message is by using invisible ink! Here are a few ideas below:
Mix equal parts of water & baking soda. Use a paintbrush, cotton swab, or your finger to draw your message with the solution. Let dry. Now hold your paper closely to a light bulb or heated light source (don’t set it on fire!) and watch the reaction with the baking soda & the heat!
OR
Write a message using lemon juice. Let dry. Hold near a light bulb or heat source to see the message reappear!
Here is a more complicated version which requires adult help with an iron if you want to try something new!:
Place 1/2 c. milk, juice from 1 lemon, 1 Tbps. powdered sugar mixed in 1/4 c. water, 1 Tbsp. baking powder mixed in 1/4 c. water,  & 1 Tbsp. alum mixed in 1/4 c. water ALL in one jar. Shake together well. Use paintbrush or cotton swab to write your message on white paper. Let dry. To make the message reappear place another sheet of white paper on top of your message, and then iron it. **Requires adult help** Be careful not to burn the paper. Try it on low heat first!
You can even buy different types of invisible ink pens made by Sharpie or LED wholesalers.
