A Little Bit of Shaving Cream Fun

We did this when my son was younger, but we were encouraging different tactile responses and sensory activities. As you see above we filled his sand table outside with shaving cream on one side and water on the other! He had a BLAST! He even tried to jump in and get completely in on the action!
There are a lot of fun ways I can think of for kids to play in shaving cream. Here are a few below:
-
If you don’t have a sand table use a baking pan at a table.
-
Mix the shaving cream with some colored dye- then lightly press white paper over it for artwork.
-
Draw a letter of the alphabet, and allow your child to trace it with shaving cream.
-
There is a colored shaving cream foam for bathtime fun!
-
Put small toys in a pot and then fill it with shaving cream-let them go searching!
-
Make pretend ice cream cones with shaving cream!
-
Have your kids “draw” a mural with shaving cream on the shower wall!
At the end of the school year, I'd have a "shaving cream party" with my students. I would squirt some directly on their desks and they could play with it for a few minutes. It was fun, and pretty mess-free!
These are some great ideas. I've been wanting to do some shaving cream activities for a while, but just didn't want to face the huge clean-up. Somehow, I didn't even think of doing it outside – DUH! Thanks for the extra ideas of activities, too! My little guy is going to be one happy toddler as soon as it gets warmer!!!
