Gnomeo and Juliet Movie Review

We just received Disney’s Gnomeo and Juliet on DVD to watch. It looked cute enough, but I wasn’t sure how good a movie would be when it was all about garden gnomes. I have to say BIG kudos to Disney! We absolutely loved Gnomeo and Juliet! AND even better- I approve of it for my son! (and I am very picky what he watches!) Gnomeo and Juliet is a movie I have now suggested to all of my friends- both to buy and to watch! The other really cool thing is that my husband is allowed to show it to his school classroom too!!
Gnomeo & Juliet is a hilarious twist on William Shakespeare’s legendary tale Romeo & Juliet. Delve into the secret world of garden gnomes and meet Gnomeo (the blue gnome) and Juliet (the red gnome)- whose families have both been at odds with each other, well, simply because they are different colors! This entertaining movie from Disney features new music by Sir Elton John and is coming out on DVD and Blu-Ray on May 24, 2011! My husband and I were randomly busting out in laughter throughout the entire movie. I don’t know who comes up with this stuff but they are really good! This movie is definitely worth buying! It is a must-see night of fun!
It has been hailed as “family-friendly fun”- and it truly is! I was very impressed. I am extremely particular about what my 4 year old watches and so I of course pre-screened the movie before he watched it. My husband & I watched it at night, and as soon as the movie was over I couldn’t wait till my kiddo woke up the next morning to tell him he could watch it! The kids loved it! It’s rated G, and although the garden gnomes are always battling each other- there is nothing scary in it.
Gnomeo & Juliet is one of those movies where you sit down and from start to finish you enjoy it! It has its ups when the gnomes fall in love, its downs when Featherstone the flamingo loses his flamingo love, and lots of laughter in between! As an adult I caught a lot of things such as a glue container called “Taming of the Glue” and quite a few other play on words that was just hilarious! This is a very clever movie which is family-friendly from start to finish. I can’t tell you enough how much we enjoyed it and approve of it for our family! To be very honest I can’t imagine a reason that your family wouldn’t love it too! It is completely child appropriate and totally enjoyable for adults. We give this a HUGE two thumbs up for an awesome movie!! Great job Disney!

I loved this movie! We took my daughter to the cheap theater to see it and it was well worth it! I would love to buy it and watch it again and again. Cute for the kids and adults and clean enough to show!
