Easi-Speak USB Recorder by Learning Resources Review
We received the Easi-Speak USB Recorder from Learning Resources to review. It is a digital microphone which you can use to record things and play back as well as download them into MP3 files. Since it’s so portable and simple to use you can get pretty creative on what you use this for! One of my favorites is that you can record yourself reading a book and then use the MP3 or WAV file of your recording to produce your own audio book for your kids or classroom. Audiobooks can get very pricey so just that one use alone would make it worth the price of the Easi-Speak (retails about $69.99).

The base of the microphone twists off and the USB plugs right into your computer – simple as that! Using the Easi-Speak in the classroom really helped to boost classroom participation as all of the students wanted to take a turn not only recording themselves into the microphone but also listening to themselves played back on the microphone. The students can also use it to make a narrative that can be used with making videos and slide shows as well.

As you can see above the buttons are very simple and pretty self-explanatory. There is a record and play button, as well as a next and back button. You can record up to 4 hours of audio on this little microphone! As with several other Learning Resources electronics this is also PC and Mac compatible which makes it even better! Plus there is a spot for headphones so students, teachers, and parents can listen to it quietly without disturbing those around them. If you have a class website this is a neat tool to record messages to your parents! And of course you (or your students) could even sing into it and record a song!

The Easi-Speak Digital Microphone is also a great tool to use for ESOL (English as a Second Language) students, fluency, speech therapy and more. This is also a great idea for reluctant readers. My son is 4 years old and can read BUT he is a very lazy reader. He will only read if he feels like it and we are trying to help him understand that when he starts school next year he will need to answer questions when called on in class whether or not he feels like it so we not only use the Easi-Speak in my husband’s 2nd grade classroom we also use it at home to encourage my son to read. Below is a video we took of him reading part of his favorite book, Morris the Moose Goes to School.

We recommend the Easi-Speak from Learning Resources – especially for teachers. As you can see from everything I just briefly touched on there are many ways to use this to both benefit your entire classroom as a whole as well as benefiting individual students. The sound is very clear and crisp during recording. We took many recordings in my husband’s classroom but I am still trying to figure out how to upload the files – hopefully by tomorrow I will have it uploaded to a slide show so you can hear the clear quality of the sound file.

  1. I would love to win this!! As a private teacher/tutor this would be beyond helpful. My kiddos love to record their voices and having an easy to use mic would be benefit them–nothing like hearing how one reads to become a better reader. 🙂

  2. I would love this. I do interventions at the school and this would be a great tool for having them read and listen to themselves.
