Kids LOVE making noise, so why not turn your noisy lovers into music lovers! You can make an instrument out of just about anything. The other day my son came home from K-4 with this simple shaker he made in class. Two cups of any kind, a few beans, and some tape – that’s it! Don’t have extra cups or tape? Use a plastic food storage container. Or a toilet paper tube with ceran wrap or tissue glued on the end. Turn some music on, and teach kids how to shake their noise makers to the rhythm! Talk to them about different types of instruments – banjos, harmonicas, maracas, tambourines, strings, brass, woodwinds – there is so much to learn!
