Being a blogger means learning to multi-task and dabble in just about everything web related. Almost three years ago when I started this site I had NO idea that I would have to become familiar with HTML, PHP, CSS, RSS, CPanels, SEO, and all sorts of other cryptic terminology. Who knew that you could ruin your entire page just by leaving out a “>”? And yet out of all of this the most time consuming to even think about has definitely been SEO. Social media takes a huge chunk of my time, but SEO tops it all off. I could literally have a full time job trying to improve my SEO. What is SEO? SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. It basically means that your site is easy for search engines to find. (trust me – it’s a good thing!)
Groups like Social Media Limited offer web design services in Manchester, and this is just the type of service I dream about hiring some day! You would think writing articles or blogging would be a piece of cake – I mean, you just turn on the computer and type right? Maybe….but if you actually want people to find your articles, you absolutely must have good SEO and a good social media following is imperative. So if you’re thinking about starting a blog, and you really want to do it right, I highly recommend doing as much research as you can! I sure wish I had! Check out a book on SEO, sign up and actually use all of the social media options you can find, decide what exactly you want to write about and find the best way to do that. But most of all enjoy the journey! I don’t regret starting out on one platform rather than another. Or maybe taking the “slow” route to things. I sort of feel like I’ve graduated up into where I am and I’m proud of digging in the trenches and learning it myself!
