Patriotic Pencil Holder Craft

In celebration of the upcoming President’s Day I wanted to share this simple patriotic craft idea with you – it’s also great for any patriotic holiday! It’s a Patriotic Pencil Holder to decorate your desk with! Or fill it with goodies to turn it into a gift can – or better get stuff some tissue paper inside and curled ribbon as a table center piece or party decor!
You’ll need:
1 sheet of Red Construction Paper
1 sheet of Blue Construction Paper
1 sheet of White Construction Paper
Scissors
Tape or Glue (I used an Elmer’s Glue Stick)
Recycled (clean!) soup can
I found that the simplest way to make this craft is by first cutting the red construction paper so that it will wrap around the can once, then gluing on the white stripes BEFORE placing it on the can! When you’ve placed all of the white stripes you want on your red construction paper then go ahead and glue the red construction paper onto the soup can. Then cut a long strip of blue construction paper, enough to wrap around the top of the soup can, but do NOT glue it yet!! Cut out your white stars and glue them on the blue strip of construction paper before you attach it to the can! (trust me – it’s easier this way and sticks better!) When all of your stars are attached you can glue the blue strip of construction paper around the top of the recycled can.
