Earth Day Paper Plate & Around the World Cultural Activities

Earth Day is coming up and I LOVE to tie in nature with culture from around the world on this day! It takes everyone doing their part to keep our planet clean! Our students are always planting flowers and veggies to take home and to grow in our school garden during the warmer months so we like to extend the learning further than your typical gardening activities! Below are some fun cultural ideas that cross Earth Day with History, Geography and Culture!
To make an EASY “Globe” just take 2 paper plates, face them inwards and glue together, then paint blue! You can then draw or paste on the world continents! If you want you can choose to leave the top unglued to make a “pocket” where you can store notecards or crafts from around the world that you create. Or line the inside with a plastic sheet protector and some dirt and plant your own hanging garden!
