This beautiful patriotic artwork is so simple to create with the free printable I’ve included below. Grab your kids, just a few supplies, and enjoy celebrating our freedom with this easy and festive patriotic artwork. This is the perfect button craft even for those of you who just aren’t that crafty.
Patriotic Art Materials:
8×10 photo frame
Print: Home of the Brave Printable (print on card stock for best results) trimmed to 8×10
Buttons (red)
–I use Forever Findings Buttons, one package of 130 buttons from Wal Mart in Red did the job with some left over
Hot Glue
Old Toothbrush (optional)
Art Directions:
On a flat surface, begin to affix your buttons. I start with the star outline, and lay the buttons half way over the outline of the paper star. Once the outline is complete, fill in the center with buttons.
The button package usually has a lot of the same buttons, I use those for the center, since I’m going to be covering it up with a second layer of buttons. The center does not have to be completely full, there can be holes. Just be certain you have a button big enough to cover the “holes” left on the first layer.
Begin with a second layer of buttons and hot glue onto the first layer. You can continue with a third layer, or add some more buttons here and there to create more dimension.
When complete, I use an old toothbrush to remove the hot glue strings from the buttons.
Now it’s time to frame. Disassemble frame, removing back and glass. Place your button artwork in the frame, and put the glass behind it. Close up the frame and you’re done!
Display and enjoy.
