Directions:

The best way to save money, especially if you have a large garden, is to buy your silverware spoons in bulk! I then counted out how many spoons I wanted to use as markers and painted a few extra just in case so I didn’t have to do it later. Paint both sides of your spoons with chalkboard paint. I needed two coats to evenly cover my spoons. It will take a few extra minutes for them to dry since you’re painting on metal.

I then used a white liquid chalk marker to write the name of each veggie or herb on separate spoons (one name per spoon). The awesome thing about the liquid chalk markers is that because the spoon is a non-porous surface it is permanently on there.

Which means that you won’t have to worry about your labels washing off in the rain or as you water your garden! The liquid chalk marker dries pretty instantly so as soon as you write your label you’ll be ready to go!

Just grab your new stylish chalkboard paint spoon markers and head to your garden! Make sure you space the spoons far enough from your plants to give them room to grow! Push the handle of the spoon about half way down into the ground and enjoy knowing you will no longer have to worry about what seeds you planted where! You can also used several of the same labeled spoons as garden markers to border off a specific area like lettuce.

At the end of your growing season just collect all of your spoons and store them in a dry place until the next spring! You don’t want to till over your spoons!  These are so stylish and extremely budget friendly. Plus they are weather proof and you can easily see the markers from across the yard so they don’t get buried down in the dirt!  These garden markers make great gifts, especially when placed in unique garden containers!

If you’re growing hydroponically you can still use these garden markers if you have room (they will work best in a Dutch bucket system or even in some vertical grow towers).
