Brain Food by Fat Brain Toy Company Review

Brain Food is a safe non-toxic putty made by the Fat Brain Toy Company. I was so excited when they sent this to me because my oldest son uses silly putty for his sensory needs- I couldn’t wait to see what the Brain Food had to offer!  We received Brain Food: Frontal Lobe Fuschia and there is a large amount of putty in the nice little tin it comes in!!
Brain Food is available in:
Brain Stem Blue
Cranial Copper
Frontal Lobe Fuschia
Glow in the Dark Ganglia
Grey Matter
Parietal Lobe Pearl
Temporal Lobe Teal
As you can see this is no ordinary tin of putty! Look at how much putty you get! I love that there seems to be an endless amount of putty! The container says:
“Putty in Your Hands…A Playground for your Mind!”
My son immediately grabbed the Brain Food out of my hands when I opened our box. He is absolutely obsessed with putties and he couldn’t resist playing with it right away. I must admit the pearlescent hue and bright fuschia color are really attractive! This Brain Food gets packed with us on road trips, overnight trips, and yes, even vacations. We always try to have a putty around at Brain Food is certainly our favorite. For a couple reasons really, I like the container it comes in- it won’t accidentally open when stepped on in the car or thrown into a bookbag. I love that there is a large amount of it-it makes it easier to share with siblings and parents who want to play too!
Because there is so much putty in the Brain Food container you can mold and create more things with it instead of getting an itty bitty little piece of putty. My son loves to create tornados with his! It is great for stimulating thought and creativity! It helps to build hand strength and fine motor skills- which is a plus for those with special needs! It will even stay putty-like if you leave it out of the container for months!
In fact, I don’t recommend it, but I got a good laugh one day because I walked into my living room to see that on the back wall my son had stuck the huge blob of Brain Food on the wall the day before. I should have taken a picture because the putty slowly “drooled” down the wall and looked like an artwork of frozen splatter everywhere! It was funny and interesting all at once! I can’t vouch for anyone else’s walls, but I was able to easily pull the putty right off of the wall without any damage!! Then I quickly had a nice little chat with my son about storing putty on our walls!! 🙂
Brain Food retails for $9.99. When I first saw the price I thought it was too pricey. But then I thought about all of the $1-3 silly putties that our family has purchased that have gotten smooshed, broken, lost, dirty, etc. I realized that you’re really paying about the same price without all of the hassle of losing and breaking cheaper putties. Not to mention that the brain food is cooler!
