Here is another great question sent in by one of my readers:

Q: I am a teacher at a school who doesn’t have money in the budget for the “extras” for my students. I pay for almost everything out of pocket but can’t afford it myself. Do you have any suggestions on ways I can get sponsors for my class to help cover the cost of books or supplies?

A:  That’s a great question! There are many online programs such as DonorsChoose and Adopt a Classroom that you can sign up for online as well as various teacher grants for different projects. I have also received a huge amount of help from businesses in the local community. I started by simply walking into a business with a letter printed on school-head paper and our school’s tax ID stating what I was asking for, I asked to speak to the manager and explained that I was a teacher from XXX School and requested if they would be willing to support my classroom. I have had over $2000 worth of products donated to my entire school from these generous local business partners. They have helped supply everything from water bottles to Field Day, money donations, massages for teachers, free kid’s meal and more!
