10 Great Gift Ideas for Teachers This Holiday Season

This post may contain affiliate links, view our disclosure policy for details.

Ever want to know what teachers REALLY want for Christmas from their students/parents? I can tell you – it’s NOT ceramic mugs! Seriously – don’t do that to your child’s teacher. They probably have received enough of them to line around the globe. I know they are cheap, but a teacher’s holiday gift doesn’t have to be expensive to be thoughtful or useful! In fact it doesn’t even have to be holiday related – many of our teachers spend their own money out of pocket to purchase supplies for your children and would be more than happy to receive extra supplies during the holidays instead! You can check out my Gifts in a Jar post I wrote last year to make your own gift or check out a few of these ideas from teachers below.

1. White Board Markers

2. Wet Erase Markers

3. Flash Drive (4 GB+)

4. Magazine Subscriptions
National Geographic, Ranger Rick, ZooBooks, Highlights, Your Big Backyard, etc.

5. Flashcards

6. Educational Manipulatives

7. Books for the Classroom Library

8. Gift Cards
Barnes and Noble, Starbucks, Target, Walmart, Restaurants, iTunes, etc.

9. Pencils / Pens

10. Kindle Books (Make sure they have a Kindle first!!)

  1. Thank you for that list. We really do appreciate the gifts, but we can only use so many candles, lotions, and mugs. We also appreciate art supplies, CDs, a donation to our Donor's Choose project, or even a donation of your time, even if it's coloring or cutting projects for the teacher at home.

Great list. Although, as a specials teacher, I rarely receive a gift. If I did, I would like the things on your list.

I saw an expo marker on the ground the other day. It was no where near a school and it was in a puddle, in the rain, and my first instinct was to go grab it. lol
