Our Very Impressive Clarion Hotel in Ft. Myers, Florida

Friday night we drove down to Ft. Myers, Florida which is a few hours south of our house to spend time with my husband’s grandparents. Grandpa’s been in and out of the hospital a lot lately so we all thought it would be a good idea for the kids (and us!) to cheer him up! Last year my husband had opened up a credit card through Choice Hotels and as a promo when we opened up the credit card we got 8000 points- which was enough for a free hotel night! So this was the perfect timing to use our 8000 points. We chose to stay at the Clarion Hotel.
The picture above is the bar that’s actually poolside which was pretty hopping with lights and music at night when we took our kids out swimming. But it was nicely done and to be honest my kids didn’t even notice it as we walked by! The pool was heated and nice and big! Didn’t see a hot tub but it was pretty dark at night and we didn’t scout around. The room we chose to stay in runs about $129 a night and is SO worth it! We had a 2 level suite with bathrooms both upstairs and downstairs. On the main floor there was also a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, TV, desk, and a couch/pull-out bed. That’s where the kids slept- eek! My 4 yr old and 1 yr old shared a bed!! Surprisingly it was not as awful as I thought it would be!! I LOVED the fact that there was a fridge and microwave in the room. Since we are on a tight budget it enable us to bring ALL of the meals for our kids for the weekend without having to pay for them to eat out.
You have to climb a nice winding stairway to get to the upper loft where there was a king bed, another TV/dresser, and bathroom/vanity area. There was a large closet upstairs as well. My favorite feature? The shower curtain that was beveled out for extra room!! 🙂 I’ve always wanted one of those things! The room was fantastic. Both upper and lower levels had their own toiletries, glasses, towels- everything! Our spacious room definitely made our stay much nicer! If you are looking to visit the Ft. Myers area I highly recommend the Clarion Hotel which is part of Choice Hotels. We will definitely always be staying here when we need a hotel!! With little kids we are always in need of extra space and this is definitely one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. In fact this is a nicer suite than we stayed in on our honeymoon-LOL! (We were on a pretty tight budget then!)
The only thing that made me a little nervous? The pull out couch where my kids slept was on the main level by the front door. My 4 year old is seriously a master of getting out of locks and alarms, so I was a little concerned about the kids sneaking out during the night- sad huh? Put we just pushed all of the tables in the room in front of the door and were ok! I know most people won’t have that problem, but my son has a weird talent for breaking out of places- not even kidding. When he was one you can ask all of my friends- we had to instill several alarms and MANY new locks in our house just to keep him indoors. It was crazy! We even had a nice breakfast in the morning too!
