What Makes a Good Library?

I am not an expert in libraries, but I have spent a tremendous amount of time in them. As a parent of two small children there are a few things I really appreciate when it comes to libraries!
  • Children’s StoryTime Programs
  • Movie Nights/Community Events
  • Available Board Games to Rent
  • Available Schooling Material to Rent
  • A Small Bookstore to sell Used Books
  • A Children’s Corner (with books, bean bags, coloring pages, puzzles, etc.)
  • Brightly Colored Decorations- at least in the children’s area
  • A nice selection of audiobooks
  • Library cards for children
  • Classes such as for computers, GED, etc.

  1. I LOVE our librarians.

We recently moved out of state and I'm really missing the children's librarians in the two libraries we frequented the most. They were FANTASTIC and always willing to help. They really helped foster a love of the library for my kids.

Our children really do consider their librarians friends and so do I.
