Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Strikingly True Review

I am a huge fan of Ripley’s books and museums!! I jumped at the chance to review the new 8th edition of Ripley’s Believe it or Not! books – Strikingly True! Just as expected it is fantastic! FULL of oddities, rare things, and totally bizarre people and facts it has proved to keep me busy literally for hours.
In fact I have been so engrossed in it that I still have not read it completely cover to cover!! I received the book just before our road trip to Chicago and it went right in the front seat with me. My husband and I entertained each other while driving just by reading from Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Strikingly True book to each other! And would you believe that we STILL aren’t done with it?
I don’t know why it’s so fun to read about other people’s strange behaviors but check out this guy who won a contest for decorating his facial hair with fake birds?!?!
And I LOVE the intrigue of those who defy medical explanation – like this guy was hit by lightning – check out the marks left on the back of his body for a few days after he was hit! WOW!
Or this poor boy who had WAY too many toes!! On the right you can see his feet after a corrective surgery – looks really good!!
I seriously wish that I could just show you page after page from this new Ripley’s book. In fact last year at Christmas Ripley’s Believe it or Not! books made it onto my Christmas list!! Not only is this a great book for adults but this is a great book for teenagers and kids who don’t really like reading.
I can tell you when they start flipping through this book and see some of the crazy pictures that are in there they will WANT to read! And they will want to read a lot. In fact there are enough stories and pictures in there to last your kids literally hours of captivating reading!
I know with the holiday season coming up everyone is looking for great gift ideas, but to be honest this book is worth purchasing just to have. Not only is it a great read but there is so much history, science, and other educational facts to be a great book for me!

Okay, I just have to go ahead and say it… EEEEW! My husband totally gets a kick out of this kind of stuff as well, so maybe I'm just strange that I'm not into oddities! LOL!
