Learning Resources Gallon Measurement Set Review

We had the opportunity to review this Gallon Measurement Set from Learning Resources and I’m not sure who was looking forward to it more – me or my husband!! I really wanted them so I could teach my boys at home about measuring in a visual way and also by using it as a tool in conjunction with school lessons as well as other science / chemistry experiments.
My husband was eager to run off with these because he wanted them for his 2nd grade classroom!
We started out doing a simple density test by pouring in colored liquids, oils, etc. so the kids could see that not all liquids are created equal. This Gallon Measurement set comes with 5 containers – gallon, half gallon, quart, pint, and cup.
They are in the same shapes you would find other household items in so it’s easy for the kids to recognize the shapes and correlate them with other products that we have in the kitchen. Sure, you can make your own containers and mark them – but these are SO much nicer to have and will definitely last a WHOLE lot longer!
First of all the tops come off of the cup, pint, and quart containers which makes it easier to put liquids and other objects into them. Then you just snap the top on top as needed. Each top also comes with the regular “spout” opening that you would find with a screw on lid – just like a milk or creamer container.
We took the lids off of the containers when putting liquids into the containers, and then popped the tops on for easy pouring. You can see above that it was MUCH easier to put a spoonful of salt in with the lid popped off! Clever idea!
Here you can see how we put the lid back on for pouring purposes – trust me when I say that it made a LOT less mess! When we first opened the box we were VERY highly impressed right away – the containers in the Gallon Measurement set are VERY thick and durable containers. Very heavy duty.
These are definitely made to last – they are not the thin containers you have in your refrigerator from the grocery store. I wasn’t expecting it to be so impressive but it was awesome to know that these containers will be used for a VERY VERY long time. You will not regret having this set around!
As you may have noticed as well each of the containers are marked depending on their size. You can find measurements by ounces, cups, pints, quarts, and gallons which is great because you can correlate the measurement markings with the other containers. (for example the gallon is marked by quarts, pints, cups, and ounces which you can visually see by using the other sized containers to fill the gallon container!)
You can see this better in the first picture I’ve shown at the top of this post. I LOVE that the containers are not just marked in one measurement but by all possible measurements.
These containers are awesome to have in the classroom, for homeschoolers, or just for kids at home to learn. They are very easy to clean – especially since the lid pops off of the top (that was one of my favorite features!!).
I HIGHLY recommend this Gallon Measurement set – it is totally worth having! The only thing I noticed was that these containers are so thick and heavy-duty that the colors as you can see are a little bit difficult to distinguish when you are doing layered liquids, but it didn’t hinder anything we were doing.
We chose this set simply because it is the more common measurement system used.
Best Features Recap:
Pop Off Lids
Multiple Measurement Markings on each containers
Heavy-duty quality
