I LOVE this time of year because after the Christmas holidays are over we STILL get to keep on celebrating by sharing with our children the Lunar New Year! It gives us something exciting to look forward to and provides a great educational opportunity for our kids to learn what the Lunar New Year is and the culture around the holiday. (Don’t know much about it? Check out our FUN FACTS about the Lunar New Year at the end of this post!) Growing up I really didn’t know anything about it which is sad because it’s such an important holiday for many people around the world! It has such a fascinating history!
It’s also a lot of fun to see that Best Buy takes pride in celebrating it as well! For Asians all around the world the Lunar New Year (on February 8th!) isn’t just to celebrate the beginning of the new year but it celebrates the end of winter and anticipated arrival of spring. It’s a very important holiday and that’s definitely something I can get on board with! Plus there are some killer firework displays!
Aren’t these Lunar New Year themed gift cards from Best Buy awesome? I LOVE the first one up above! They are available right here now through February 13th, 2016. You can also send an eGift-card here if you’d rather have an immediate gift!
If you’re like I was and don’t know very much about the Lunar New Year I recommend diving right in with your kids! There are some fabulous videos and other resources out there for you to join in on the fun and watch the celebration! Try out a new recipe or craft with your kiddos and celebrate other cultures by gifting Lunar New Year gifts from Best Buy!
