Save Money by Digging in the Trash!

Ok- so don’t REALLY go out and dig in the trash!! But it got you interested didn’t it??

Ever heard “One Man’s Trash is Another Man’s Treasure”? A great way to save money is buying things secondhand. And I’m not even talking thrift stores, although that is a great way to buy secondhand. Craigslist and Freecycle are great ways to gain new things that others are trying to get rid of! (I just bought a $130 NASA robosapien robot for $30!!)

A lot of times if someone doesn’t want something they set it out on the side of the curb for someone else to pick up. Now I don’t want everyone going around rummaging in gross garbage cans, but check out a few of these things that we found for free on the curb that our kids now play with in the backyard!

Especially if it’s an outside toy that you can easily clean up, rinse off, or bleach-think twice when you see something sitting out on the curbside- you just might be able to use it!

I totally agree! Got a fantastic Little Tykes pool and playhouse for free off Craigslist. The Mom just said she wanted to pass it on to another Mom! 😉

i really appreciate this blog. i am also a wife of a teacher, who works in the lowest paying florida district. we are looking around right now to see what the other districts are going to do with the cuts Scott has made this next school year. With what our district is doing he'll be making less than he did when he started and paying more for insurance. and we have 2 xta kids than we did back then. hopefully things will get better.
