Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort Bonnet Creek – A Great Place to Vacation in Central Florida

I just wanted to give you guys a recap of our stay last weekend at the Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort Bonnet Creek along with some additional info about the resort itself and not just all about the fun we had! (although we had a blast and can’t wait to go back!) It is a Mediterranean inspired resort located on 500 acres of woodland with Walt Disney World situated on three sides.
They offer FREE shuttles to Disney parks (shuttles to Universal, the outlet mall, and other places available for a fee). PLUS kids stay free! PLUS you can also bring up to one pet under 25 lbs. for an additional $50 per stay fee. Parking is an extra fee of $16 per day but the great thing is that this includes valet service which as an absolutely fantastic thing to have! It was SO wonderful not to have to “drag” the kids to and from the parking garage – in fact we never set foot in the parking garage since we used valet the entire weekend!
There are 84 family rooms with bunk beds which we loved because the bunk beds are situated in a small “room” of it’s own. Ours even had a separate TV in there which was perfect for the kids! They also offer a full spa service which was absolutely incredible as well as 3 signature restaurants, a coffee/snack Barista shop, gift shop, and 24 hour room service. There are poolside cabanas available to rent and the pools have zero-entry (no steps) which is great for kids, elderly, and special needs situations. By the poolside were also PLENTY of chairs, towels, firepits, swings (hammocks) and more! You can read more about our arrival experience and life on the concierge level here. (and room photos too!)

The Wyndham Grand Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort is situated directly next to the Wyndham Bonnet Creek Vacation Club (timeshare). The nice thing about this is that ALL of the amenities for the vacation club are free if you are staying in the Grand Orlando resort – and vice versa. This opened up a HUGE amount of possibilities and options for us. We could have spent the week just on the grounds in the lazy rivers, pools, water slides, mini-golf, playgrounds, children’s activities, pool table, ping pong table and so much more.
As you can see the location is absolutely pristine beautiful. The buildings are very well kept and the inside is spotless. We didn’t notice any old cracks, peeling paint, or anything else that would place this resort as anything other than the best kept and maintained location.
The large water slide inside the pirate ship on the top right does have a height requirement (48 inches) so unfortunately my kids were not allowed on this slide. However there is another water slide on grounds where the children can be under 48 inches and slide into the pool IF they can swim unassisted which my 4 year old was able to do. The other slide on the left side you see above isn’t actually a slide. It’s a crawl-thru tube and a stair case that lets you play up inside the pirate ship.
You can rent the poolside cabanas for a half or full day. And below you can see the entrance into the Blue Harmony spa …oooh – la – la!! WOW is what I have to start off saying. The ambiance in the spa is perfection! I wish I had snapped a bunch of pictures as we walked through but I was chasing my kids. The lights were dimmed, there were lit candles everywhere. Fresh water with flavor enhancers were out. Massage rooms, hydrobaths, steam rooms, even an outside private massage area as well!! It was like a mecca of heaven in there. I literally did not want to leave the spa area and I was just on tour! Definitely the best spa I have personally ever been in!!! The next time we are there this is a for sure spot for me!
And if the spa wasn’t beautiful enough everywhere around the resort was! I loved that the furniture throughout the resort did not match – it blended together perfectly though! They was plenty of lighting, greenery, and places to sit…..
…..and Florida wildlife! I spotted this same anhinga everyday sitting on the same spot on the “fort” – which holds a ping pong table inside! It was such a beautiful view! There are several places to eat at the Wyndham including the Barista which had delicious pastries, snacks and Starbucks! Downstairs from the main level was the best general place to congregate and eat with a buffet. On the main level was the Deep Blue Grille which had a fancier sushi experience.
And by the lake was the Dockside Grille with a beautiful view and open deck. There were a few other small stops as well such as the Bar 1521. Prices ranged from the Barista which was about the price of visiting a Starbucks location to the others which were more of a sit-down and eat price. There is also room service available 24/7.  If you can’t afford the price and have a car there are also local places nearby to eat.

Lastly my opinion after our stay at the resort is that you could go to the Wyndham Grand Orlando Bonnet Creek for vacation – and never leave. There is enough to relax and keep your schedule busy on grounds that you would not have to go to any of the local theme parks. We were only there two days but could have been on grounds much longer without leaving! For a fee, however, you can check out the local outlet mall and other local places.

Every day there was a whole list of things to do on the schedule – about every 2 hours. We took advantage of the Kid’s Club where the kids were able to decorate Christmas cookies, make snowflakes, and more! Other things I spotted on the schedule for our weekend stay were pool games, make your own calendar, stuff a buddy, scavenger hunts, etc. In the Kid’s Club there is a Wii and other things for teens to do as well as an arcade and pool table next door. Most of the activities are free although there are a few with a fee which are clearly noted on the schedule. You can read more about our experience in the Kid’s Club with more photos here!
My opinion overall is that staying at this Wyndham is a like getting a timeshare vacation for a hotel price! The only difference is that there are no kitchenettes in the rooms (although we had a mini-fridge in ours!). You can find the specific pricing details on Wyndham Grand Orlando’s site but even being a frugal family we thought this was a steal for everything that comes with it! The check in and check out was very quick and simple, and I loved that the kids received little goody bags to keep them occupied!
The staff everywhere we went was incredibly friendly. Super friendly! We would just walk by the pool area and they would say hello as we were passing! If we walked by a few minutes later….well, they would say hello again! We did not meet an unfriendly or even grumpy person all weekend! It was the aura of being around family and friends which we appreciated. We didn’t feel like strangers walking around!

  1. We went there when Cj was just a few months old and loved it! I love the openess of the rooms and even though the property is spread out, it doesn't feel like you have to walk forever to get to the pool, store, even the little shopping center. The pirate ship pool was awesome! Even hubby went on it. Looks like you had a great time!

I like how this is a great place for children and adults. I 'm especially interested in that spa! That's so convenient that they drop you to Disney World, because when I was in Orlando our resort didn't and we had to pay for a car rental. 🙁
