Treasure Kai is such an amazing creation – I can’t wait to share with you about this great hands-on book! And you know I LOVE anything hands-on for kids! If you have a child who doesn’t like to read- make sure you check out this book (and more!!)!

Treasure Kai is an adventure seeking boy who races around the world to amazing exotic places in search for treasure- with YOUR help! Kai’s exotic adventures takes him through history and fantastical places that will have your kids asking more about the locations! It reminded me of a kids version of Indiana Jones!

This series by Karen Robertson was inspired by her sons, who weren’t keen in reading. She had a vision to deliver reading for kids as a fun and successful experience! And she certainly had a fantastic idea!

The book we received, Treasure Kai and the Lost Gold of Shark Island, has your children helping Kai to find the treasure. It comes with a detachable map that your kids can refer to throughout the story.

On the side of the book as you see below are eight treasure chests that actually open with real treasure inside. Each treasure chest contains a different treasure.

Open the book to the first page and help your child read the story. At the end of the page, it will tell your child to pick a treasure chest to open. My son LOVED picking his own treasure chest- not to mention having EIGHT chests to open!!

Once he opened a treasure chest, he needed to find the page that had the picture of his treasure on it. This new treasure would lead him to a new page with a new adventure.

Once he finished reading that page, he would pick a new treasure. With his prize in hand he then proceeded to find the page with his new prize pictured- and begin the adventure all over again! The goal ultimately is to pick the treasure chest with the gold in it and help Kai find the treasure by finishing the adventure!

I have never seen such a unique and interactive book like this- we all loved it! Treasure is enticing to any child, and when my son was actually able to pick his own treasure, and hold it- he was just elated!

Each new page with Kai brought a new adventure and a new danger which enticed my son to find out what happens next!

As you can see above once my son had picked a treasure I had him place it on the appropriate location on the map. This is great for helping children learn to reference a matching item! There is also a library version of Treasure Kai which is the same exact book, but without the treasure chests on the side- it is simply a hardback book.

In addition to the books Treasure Kai can also be played online for free, and you can find Treasure Kai’s NEW Book Apps trailers, and you can BUY them HERE in the iTunes store. They have just been released this week!!! AND for the ultimate collection- you can even buy Treasure Kai shirts!

What a fantastic idea for a book and engaging children!! My 11yo son could've used this a couple of years ago. He's gotten better at reading, but this would've been a great tool!
