It’s almost that time of year – LOVE DAY! Whether or not you’re ready Valentine’s Day is JUST around the corner! Being a mom of two young boys I notice how they do NOT get excited about little pink hearts and cutesie things that tends to accompany Vday in their classrooms much to my dismay. BUT they still love handing out Valentine’s Day cards and making special gifts for their teachers. Now that I have a toddler in the house again my sanity doesn’t seem to have room for tiny details and extravagant creations so we all agreed this year to do something a little extra special (and incredibly simple!). This would be the perfect treat for your teacher’s lounge! I loved some of these brownie recipes here but I decided to try something creative and new.

All you’ll need is a box of Pillsbury Brownie Mix (I chose Mocha Fudge!), some red (or pink) Pillsbury Funfetti frosting, eggs and oil! All of which we were able to grab at our local Walmart. PLUS I used the coupons on my Ibotta app here to save some extra money which was nice – it’s been my new GO-TO for saving money on groceries!

Because I had my children in the kitchen helping me bake the brownies I like to teach them to pull out ALL of their ingredients at one time. We also double check our eggs to make sure they haven’t rotted since we have chickens and aren’t the greatest about always remembering to grab the eggs in! Simply bake the brownies as per the directions on the back of the box.

Since we were making several batches overall we opted for our stand mixer to make it easier. Once the brownies have cooked COMPLETELY COOL. Trust me – it will make your life and your decorating SO much easier!

Once your brownies have completely cooled take a butter knife and carve out a heart shape directly into the brownie pan. It doesn’t have to be fancy – it doesn’t even have to by symmetrical!

Grab your Pillsbury Funfetti frosting and butter knife and add frosting inside the heart shape you carved out! ONLY in the heart shape!

Open up the sprinkles on the top of your frosting container and pinch together a pile of the larger dots and sprinkle around the outside of the red heart. Do that to finish off the heart border then pinch together the smaller sprinkles and fill in the middle!

I LOVE that the colors are SO bright and there are TWO different types of sprinkles!

TA DA! Just take the entire brownie pan to drop off at school! I wish I had thought of this idea years ago – it’s such an EASY yet decorative way to add a little festivity to your brownies! Perfect for everything from parties to potlucks and most definitely Valentine’s Day!

Isn’t this tantalizing and fun? So easy even my kids can do it! It’s such a festive way to share a treat with friends and co-workers! Who will you be baking special Valentine’s treats for this year?
