Did You know that Dr. Seuss was not actually the author’s real name?!? I didn’t till I just decided to do a little research on him! :) Seuss was actually his middle name! His full name was Theodor Seuss Geisel. He actually wrote books under 3 different pen names: Dr. Seuss, Theo LeSieg and Rosetta Stone.
His well-loved books have been turned into children’s favorite stories, TV shows, Movies, and even Musicals! A few of his lesser known jobs during his lifetime that he held were a political cartoonist, an illustrator for advertising campaigns, and he actually worked in the animation department of the US ARMY!
His first children’s book published- And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street–  was actually REJECTED 27 times before it was finally published by Vanguard Press! Imagine the tenacity to continue resending it- wow!

Thanks for info! His birthday tomorrow has sparked a Dr. Seuss Day for our preschoolers who have 'read' 100 or more books with their parents and teachers. I am glad to know a little more about the man so I can pass it on to the kids :) We will be making 'Thing' handprints from Mailbox Magazine, Dr. Seuss hats, and more!
